We have distilled our experience of buying and installing Pax wardrobes into a few helpful pointers listed below. Following that we present a case-study of a medium sized assembly, where we built a 3m sliding wardrobe. PLANNING YOUR PAX - OUR TOP TIPS

When you measure up the space your wardrobes are going into, place your tape on the floor, so you include any skirting boards.
We normally build wardrobes lying on the floor and then flip them up. This means you need to have a ceiling height which is at least 9cm taller than your wardrobe [ceiling heights of 245cm for the taller cabinets 210cm for the shorter cabinets].
Don’t worry if you do have a restricted ceiling height or don’t have much floor space, we can still build your wardrobe, but we will have to build it vertically which takes longer and costs a little more (just check the ‘low ceiling’ box on our Pax build calculator).
We don’t recommend more than 3 Komplement pull-out drawers in a cabinet with hinged doors. The hinge mounting points mean that you will have a big gap of wasted space if you have more.
The doors (except Vikedal mirror doors) don’t come with handles, remember to add them to your order.
You don’t have to use Ikea handles. A distinctive set of handles can make your wardrobe design look completely unique.
Ikea recomend that the cabinets are wall fixed. In our experience we have found that it is not essential, but produces a sturdy, more fitted finish. If you have a single cabinet and small children, then we would definitely recommend fixing for safety.

Case study: 3m Pax Lyngdal sliding door wardrobe

Our client wanted to create a 3m slidding door wardrobe. They chose to combine 2 x 100cm Pax cabinets with 2 x 50cm cabinets to make up the 3m run. Mixing single cabinets with doubles gives greater flexibility in the choice of internal fittings
After assembling the cabinets, we joined them all together with screw bolts and then leveled the whole unit. In this case, the flat was built recently andthe floor was pretty level.
These cabinets have been configured with 8 Komplement pull-out drawers, 6 shelves and 3 hanging rails. U

The Komplement drawers have to be constructed from a kit before they can be fitted which takes about 10 mins each and cost about £4.50. [Just use our online Pax Quote Generator to design your own quote]
The Lyngdal, Stordal, Eikesdal & Hakadal sliding doors all come in kit form. Each door has an unbelievable 116 components, whch takes our fitters about 1 hour per door to construct. After building both doors, we fitted the running tracks and aligned each door to run smoothly and hang perfectly straight.

Our Pax Quote calculator estimated the job at just over 8 hours. We were able to offer our client a fixed day rate of £220, saving them £24 on our book price. Our final build time was 7 hours, 50 minutes.
